project activity log: clicking "Load older log entries..." does not properly show loading state

1. Have a project that you've been using a while
2. Search in the Log side panel or full activity log, then click on "Load older log entries..."
3. All log contents VANISH and there is no loading indicator while it loads
4. Things work again when the load finishes.
