How to make column-margin coexists with overflowing divs?

Description

I am writing a simple document in quarto. I need some more space to accommodate some graphs at one point in my document, so I would like to use the following (output=HTML) :

:::{.column-page-left}
[some graphs]
:::

:::{.column-margin}
[some text]
:::

Apparently this does not work. The text included in .column-margin is not put side-by-side with the figures, but only below. This is the same if I use .aside, instead of .column-margin.

Is there a way to make this work?

Using the column-* you overtake the grid layout which basically means there is no longer a margin.

For example, you can use layout (and associated layout-* options):

Thanks - so there is no way to retain the margin (and its formatting through column-margin while increasing the space for the content in the centrale area of the document?
I am asking since with column-page-left there is apparently a space in the margin that I could use to put "stuff". Is manual div the only way to use that?

I don't see one but the layout structure is a bit complex, so hard to say that there is no way at all.

Indeed, I think I may have found a solution, as this seems to give the intended output:
