Hi, is there any update on this issue?

It's waiting for someone to create a PR to fix the issue. The PR will probably just need to trap the exception at https://github.com/pypa/virtualenv/blob/main/src/virtualenv/discovery/builtin.py#L169 and skip the path in that case. Trickier will be writing a suitable test.
