plans for 2D resampling support (e.g. heatmaps, images, ...)

Do you have plans to add support for heatmap-series resampling? it's just a 2D picture and there are many implementations of fast efficient image resampling algorithms...

I had an interesting use case that includes heatmaps...where you would be resampling a time series based on a heatmap selection. Potentially vice versa. More of a dash functionality. This would be useful for really large heatmaps potentially? Looking at say a manifold in 2 dimensions?

But I also feel like heatmap resampling is fundamentally different than what this library is doing for time series resampling -- or rather what do we gain by doing it in this library vs just using a callback to render a new heatmap and show that

I guess I could contradict what I said above...say you had a really really fine-grained matrix and you wanted to plot it at a low resolution but when you zoomed in you would get more and more resolution.

Apparently we left this issue unanswered - our apologies for that...

I answered @sorenwacker (who had a similar question) in isssue #71.

Realistically, I won't find time in the near future to implement this myself. But I'm certainly open to include this functionality in this library.
I believe that supporting this should not require major changes to the existing code base (only extensions of the current implementation; e.g., new data container for 2D data, extend check_update_..., extend input type verification, implement aggregation functionality for 2D etc.)

FYI: as this an open-source project, anyone is welcome to contribute to this (potential new) functionality via pull-requests :)
