OTBR Web Gui Not Loading

Hello, I am running an otbr docker container hosted on a Synology NAS DS224+ with a slzb-mr1 connected by USB.

I can't connect to http://<NAS-ip>:8081 to access the otbr web gui. Can anyone help me out?

Here is my docker-compose.yml:

I woke up this morning and re-looked with a fresh mind. I realized I didn't have network_mode: host in my docker-compose.yml. However, after adding that I'm still getting basically the same logs.

I believe the main error I should be looking at is the [ERR ]-WEB-----: OpenThread daemon is not running.

Looking more into the logs, I've found that I didn't have my host's /dev/net/tun setup correctly. After updating, it looks like I've been able to get otbr and the slzb-mr1 talking a lot more with each other. I'm not exactly sure whats going on as I try to understand the logs better, but it is looking more promising.

However, I still am seeing [ERR ]-WEB-----: OpenThread daemon is not running. and still can't access the web gui when trying to connect to http://<NAS-ip>:8081.

Did you try connecting to port 80? 8081 is the default port for REST API. 80 is the default port for the web UI.

Thank you for mentioning this, it has led me to finally being able to open the web UI!

My Synology NAS was using port 80 for other things, and since I am using network_mode: host I needed to free up port 80 first.

I also discovered that I have to use a web browser while inside the Synology NAS and connnect to http://127.0.0.1:80 to access the web UI. I can't seem to view the web UI on another machine (like my laptop) thats on the same network. So, on my laptop It won't let me connect to http:<NAS-ip>:80 . From some research I've done, I think this has something to do with the otbr docker container binding 127.0.0.1 instead of 0.0.0.0 but I'm still looking into that part. This likely was done for a good reason

You can try setting env var HTTP_HOST=::.

The web UI has no authentication, so making it remotely accessible makes it possible for remote devices to retrieve things like the Thread credential.

Adjusting that env var did the trick! Thanks for all the help!

My NAS Synology is only accessible by local network, but if I ever open it up remotely then I will have to consider if I really would want to change HTTP_HOST
