GSoC 2026: Feedback request on Mass Commands architecture proposal

Hello OpenWISP community,

My name is Gisbert Kapinga (@Kapingacoder) and I am a Computer Science student interested in Open Source. I have applied for Google Summer of Code 2026 with a proposal titled "Mass Commands – OpenWISP".

In my proposal, I designed an architecture that uses Celery for asynchronous task execution and REST APIs to allow administrators to send bulk commands to multiple devices efficiently.

I would really appreciate feedback on the following:

1. Does this architecture align well with OpenWISP design patterns?
2. Are there existing components I should reuse instead of introducing new ones?
3. Are there any scalability or security concerns I should consider?

Here is a short summary of my approach:

• Use Celery for background task processing
• Use Redis/RabbitMQ as message broker
• Extend OpenWISP controller APIs
• Implement logging for command execution results

I am happy to improve my proposal based on your suggestions.
