Hi all, I just wanted to post a quick update with respect to the Rust CLI Cutover plan I announced a few weeks ago.
First, I want to acknowledge that progress against the burndown list has not been as fast as we hoped. Recently, we formally merged the Codex CLI and Codex Web efforts internally and have spent time doing joint planning and prototyping (as well as taking some much-needed vacation!).
As part of that exercise, we’ve been increasing staffing for the CLI. It will take some time for folks to ramp up, but you will start to see some new names in the committer list over the next few weeks!
In addition to furthering the development of the CLI, this will also increase our bandwidth to triage issues, reply to pull requests, etc. We will also invest in updating the docs and contribution guidelines to reflect the new focus on the development of the Rust version of the CLI.
In terms of timing, we plan to cut our first official beta release of the Rust CLI early next week. After giving folks a week or two to kick the tires, we plan to graduate from beta and formally retire the TypeScript CLI.
Thanks for bearing with us and we're excited with the work we have in the pipeline!
