VS Code integrated terminal not loading .env file as it used to

A couple of weeks back I realized that now the extension is not loading the .env file that is in the workspace folder by default. It always used to load the env vars using the integrated terminal, but something changed. I checked the settings and it has the right location, but still now it's not loading the values from the .env file.

What's also strange is that if I run the debugger, then it automatically loads the env vars when executing the command... What has changed and how can I make so that by default the integrated terminal uses the .env file again?
