Installing on FreeBSD after 4.2.1

Since the upgrade to 4.2.1 I am unable to compile this module in FreeBSD. While building I get the following error at configure stage:

checking for zlib... 1.2.11
checking whether zlib version 1.2.11 >= 1.2.0.4... ok
checking whether zlib can be linked... yes
./configure: ${CPPFLAGS:$...}: Bad substitution

Is it possible to update the compatibility of autoconf? There has been lots of changes in autoconf2.70.

Duh, that might look like shell issue; I prolly introduced some bashisms?

/bin/sh must be the bash to compile w/o errors
rename sh and make symlink to INSTALLED bash
cd /bin
mv sh sh.bak
ln -s /usr/local/bin/bash sh

Then compile. After compile you need to restore original sh
cd /bin
rm sh
mv sh.bak sh

Wouldn't it just work with bash ./configure?
