How can I clear a selection?

Hi together,

while searching for a file manager TUI I came across nnn and have been exploring it. One thing, I can't seem to find or figure out is how I can clear a selection. I feel dumb for asking this, but is there really no hot key for clearing the entire selection? Am I really supposed to delete .selection or clear it, eg s-e, :%d, :wq?

I can't relate to not having a hot key for clearing the selection, but I think, I just didn't understand how to use the tool properly in that regard. 😬

Can someone help me understand this? 🙃

(I searched the Wiki, issues, discussions for "selection" and similar terms, searched generally, even consulted an LLM, but it only hallucinated bs.)

Got it. What I ended up doing was a bit different:

• Create ~/.config/nnn/plugins/personal/clearSelection.sh.
• Within the script clear the selection like it's done in existing plugins by writing "-" to $NNN_PIPE, ie. clearing the selection at the end - which is the only thing this does.
• Bind a key via $NNN_PLUG (as suggested).

I think I ended up there, because emptying $NNN_SEL didn't update the UI. Maybe I was doing something wrong in the process, but since this is working now, I'll keep it.

I run that command from cmd prompt, that probably explains why UI was cleared in my case.

Just press "m" two times, see "m-m Select range/clear" in help. Probably should be explained more clearly in the wiki :).
