Memory Errors in Isaac sim and lab on Windows 11 with RTX 4070

Detailed Description
I’m encountering difficulties in running Isaac Sim on my Windows 11 machine within a Conda environment using Installation using Isaac Sim pip and also trying worstation installation. My system specifications are:

Intel i7-13700HX CPU
RTX 4070 GPU
16 GB RAM
I have CUDA 11.8 and cuDNN 9.7.1 installed, and my GPU driver version is 572.70 (latest as of 05/03/2025). I followed the installation instructions at https://isaac-sim.github.io/IsaacLab/main/source/setup/installation/pip_installation.html.
Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab appear to have been installed successfully. However, when I try to run the verification script’', I encounter the following error:

[Error] [carb.graphics-vulkan.plugin] VK_EXT_memory_budget is not supported on this platform. Can't get the VRAM memory usage info.
This error occurs with every example I attempt to run, with the Isaacsim 4.5.0 simulator giving me a black simulation window with the error “ResourceAllocator: Can’t get memory usage info. All unused memory will be released.” This can be seen in the screenshot.

So I tried using Cuda 12.4, and since the documentation mentions:

On Windows with CUDA 12, the GPU driver version 552.86 is required.
Also, on Windows, it may be necessary to enable long path support to avoid installation errors due to OS limitations.
A driver 552.86 isn’t available for my RTX 4070. So I used the latest driver and still encountered the same issue.

Next, I tried to install workstation installation of isaac sim 4.5.0 from the documentation at “Workstation Installation — Isaac Sim Documentation” with Cuda 11.8 and driver 572.70, which got installed successfully but gave the same error when running the “isaac-sim.selector.bat” command in the command prompt. This can be seen in the video.

I have tried alot of different methods and ways given on the post Discord on the Nvidai official Isaac Lab channel on Discord.

There are related similar issues on the form Isaac Sim does not function on RTX 4070 Laptop GPU and [Bug Report] RTX Driver verification failed ISAAC 4.0 Nvidia driver 560 · Issue #852 · isaac-sim/IsaacLab · GitHub with other RTX 40 series laptop users facing the same issue for isaac sim on Windows 11 in the past and that have not been solved yet.

Additional Context
I have been able to use Isaac Sim using the Omnivers launcher on the latest drivers and different Cuda versions without any problems. I don’t get any errors while running different examples with issac sim on omniverse launcher version on my Windows machine. However, since Launcher is getting depricated and my main purpose of Isaac Sim is to use Isaac Lab, which is not supported on Launcher. And as seen in

my machine is compatible with Isaac sim.

Thanks for posting this. It seems it is Isaac Sim where the errors are coming from. It is the first method you used to install the one that should be used with Isaac Lab. Please file a bug report in the Isaac Sim forums if you still have the vulkan errors and you can't find a solution in the forums. Thanks.

And if anyone else is looking to figure out how to uninstall aps from Microsoft store, here is a good link with images to guide you. Windows never fails to disappoint in making usage of the OS complicated 💯

@rynem89 I was experiencing this same issue and it was because I had the "OpenCL™, OpenGL®, and Vulkan® Compatibility Pack" installed. It can be removed from Add and Remove Programs in Windows Settings.

@rynem89 Hello, I encountered the same error.
I changed the line vulkan = true to vulkan = false under the apps directory, referring to Isaac Sim 启动报错：VK_EXT_memory_budget is not supported on this platform. Can‘t get the VRAM memory. After that, the error disappeared and Isaac Sim started working.

However, I'm not sure if this is the correct solution.
