GUI parameters configuration

Hi everybody!!
I am doing a project with my university and i need to test the microphone array but i didn't understand how to configure the parameters.
When i am in ManyEars GUI, with the sound card selected and working, i have just to save the parameters from the menu or I have to change something? In case yes i didn't understand what, could you please explain me? I saw in the left part of the GUI some microphone settings like position but i didn't understand how to set them, how to take the right values.
Could somebody help me please?

@rrapi, First, you need to know the geometric configuration of your microphone array and enter positions (x,y,z) in the GUI's configuration pane (or directly in the file). You select an origin, most of the time in the center of the array, and then decide the microphone's positions according to your reference. @doumdi When you talk about reference you mean for example if I choose an array like a cube, line or circle for the microphones right?
And in the case I want to use it on a robot, that is my case, how should I do? Is the same procedure?

@rrapi, decide where your virtual center of the microphone array is on your robot, it does not matter where, and then measure x,y,z coordinates of each microphone according to this point. The array configuration must be 3D if you want full sphere around the array (like a cube for instance). However, the shape can be "random". Try to put microphones where they fit on your robot. Send us a picture of your setup if you want more advice.

As you can see, they are in a random shape, 4 in the front, 4 in the back of the robot.

@doumdi In case I want to put the microphones in a cube, so one microphone for each angle of the cube, which should be the orientation of each microphone? (as it can be done in many ways, and can point to different directions)
I have annother question also. To configure the microphones connected, how can I know from the sound card which is for example the first microphone? (as there is no number in sound card to specify that)

@rrapi Orientation of the microphones is not handled in ManyEars. We have made special attention to this in the ODAS library. For installation, put the microphones pointing to the outside of the array. Use Audacity to record audio from the microphones and tap on the membrane (you will get a peak) so you can determine which microphone is connected to which channel. @FrancoisGrondin any other thoughts?

@doumdi Sorry for all this questions. I try tu use Audacity like you told me, but I was not able to make it work. Could you please tell me how to make it work in way to understand the microphones positions with all steps?
I try to do by myself but the only data it takes are from PC microphone...
