Would there be a way to turn off the playlist naming.

I understood you, that it now tried to reach out for some meta data to added the files to the playlist?
And if that does not work it tries to restore things from the file name.
Which kinda breaks it for me on a lot of levels - as it is so much easier to rename files to what you wan essentially and have the playlist show the full name. It just gives me more steps to do - and I am looking into it - it would be nice if I could just turn it off. Like every file I add now, has its own issues it seems, cutting off valuable information about the file - and making it a lot harder in the playlist to figure out what it is. Also if I rename the file, if I put some data in the Meta file, I will need to update that every single time. So I just have more time wasted.

No sure if you could fix something that just pass over these things - or turn it off as an option. Like I am looking into what I can do to make this better, just a lot of work for a lot of files.

Or I need to make the - into . I guess, or update the meta data - but overall, I am not following standard stuff anyway I think on author and names on the files and information. It kinda just makes another step for me, and I already try to put the best information into the filename in itself.

So you added this feature some time ago - is it possible to maybe have an option to deactivate it and pass it over? It seems to me just to give me more head aches and make it more complicated for me. I kinda like to keep it simple as possible on those levels for just working on things and not need multiple steps to do.

Although I need some more insight, not totally being sure how the system works - but I do not think it really fits how I already do it and name my files. I usually have the Title first and then the name or names and information later - and of cause I use - to divide things.

Like it ends up taking useful titles already made by the file name and update them into non useful ones in the playlist.

Very hard to get a screenshot - but it first removes the information before the first - but then it updates it again to totally useless titles.
I guess I can sort something out, I just liked it when it just took the file name titles - as they had all the useful information already made by me. And if I rename the file name, it also renames it to the playlist, just easy peacy one step solution without needing to dig deeper into things.

Like it seems to already use some Metadata for the information at the left Album info and such. I guess there would be a Meta Data that it could I would be able to use for the play queue. I need to read the message you wrote about that earlier and see if there is more data for me to go by.

Like here, pushing one song - I have no idea which psalm it see, I would need to look for it in the file manager to sort that out which should not be needed.

This one I guess can be sorted out with just a . and it might not be a bad Idea, as this is numbering anyway - and kinda used something of the same in the folders as playlist. So this one probably be sorted by me just fixing a . - But then if I wanna have information about the author or book or some details and using a - then it will mess it all up.

Makes me recall I wanted to try to get my Mouse stuff working in the application - never got around to it. Would be so cool if I could get that working in it. Would be awesome. Anyway.... But there is always things to do.
And not happy with the extra work on the Meta stuff - at least an option to turn it off would for me be a happy return to the old way of things in the playlist would boost it to have the right information already without me needing to toy around with meta data stuff. I have more then enough balls in the air, like way to many already.

So I would prefer if an option could be made to skip the new system, and give me the possibility to go back to using file names.

And I am sure someone would prefer this extra complication - but I do not see the big positive output of using Meta data compared to the filename for the playlist. The file names I can easily change the names, easy peasy - not need for me to toy around with meta data every single time as well.

You promoted using the file system only, and folders are part of that as well.
I see that you stored all your tracks in a folder named 04.
I can imagine that other users maybe use folders to group their tracks by artist and album name.
My point was, if you use the file name only, you potentially cut out that relevant information.
Problem file names is, you cannot make any assumption, with metadata you do know what is what.

But I agree with you, you cannot blindly rely on the fact, that the metadata is available.
Hence a fallback on the file name portion makes sense.

I have been renaming files and sorting out things for a long time - it is something that takes a lot of time to do. And my Folder/Playlist system is also something I was testing and is testing but seems pretty good.

Clearly saying I want the file names used in the playlist is not saying anything about wanting to include the path of the file - I think I was very clear - and you sound like you are slick oil sliding rubbish nonsense in response of non sanity and purposely misunderstanding to make right understanding purposely difficult.

The image is an old image, the point was not what folder is was put into, I have no idea on the number 04, I might just have been testing something at that point - the idea was to show how the system formerly worked putting the file names in the file manager into the playlist - as it formerly worked out.

Yea, there is probably some users that would find the meta data useful - what relevant information would I put out, I already try to compress and give the best title to the file names directly. There is nothing I cannot write in the file names about the files, and much easier then to toy around with meta data. Now there are other Meta data that is fine for showing off in the visualizer window itself - but no need for it when adding files to the playlist. At least not for me, only makes more issues as formerly pointed out, making further needed steps if I edit something.

I think my naming of my files is pretty clear - trying to do my best to compress the data I want shown with information about the file. Well, there already is some kind of fall back making further issues for me, so either I get some kind of Meta data I guess, or it tries to guess things - I do not need either, just my file names as they are, out of the box. This thing just messes things up for me, which I have overlooked for some time, but now that we are on the subject, my voice is raised.

So I would be very happy with a feature, at this point, with a setting, to just turn it off and have it working as formerly with my own named files in the playlist. Then I can happily continue working on other things, while it works as it should and expect and do not make all sorts of odd names and weird things in the playlist that are useless for me and confuses things.

I like the simplicity of just renaming the files without needing to do anything else, folders, files, and just seeing it working in the amazing media player - simplicity and easy peasy.

Please don’t take my comments the wrong way, @JesusGod-Pope666-Info. I'm just trying to explain that what works for you may not necessarily work for others.

I visited your site, and I see that, as you described, you simply want AudioMotion to make access to your carefully crafted file structure as seamless as possible.

Personally, I have some experience with renaming and organizing large collections of audio files, as I also manage a sizable music library and prefer everything to be tightly and consistently structured.

I've spent quite a bit of time figuring out a system that works well for me (though I don't claim it's universal). Here's what I use:

I fetch metadata using MusicBrainz Picard, which pulls from MusicBrainz.

I normalize track and folder names with Foobar2000.

For me, the key is ensuring releases are correctly identified in MusicBrainz. Once that’s done, I can easily retrieve consistent and accurate metadata. Picard also uses acoustic fingerprints to identify potential matches, so there’s minimal manual input required.

I think it would be nice to have a bit more control on what media and hot it listed in audioMotion, so we can spin it up in mode which works best for that scenario, and think that could attract more users integration the player in their solution.
