Feature request: filter multiple users

Hoping to resurface the idea from this superuser post wherein Hisham considers it. I could not find any other discussion on the idea. It's great that --filter allows multiple options with pipes now, but would strictly require the username to be in the process name. To match that syntax it could be --user="user1|user2|etc". Thanks for your consideration.

Hi I am a user of htop and use it for lots of my works as a software engineer. I also wanted this feature and this feature will potentially save my time to check for different users for some processes we need to take note of.

I was thinking of to have this feature available in 2 ways, one way may be using the commandline as suggested in the superruser post, which was provided above by @chancemon
htop --user=user1 --user=user2

Other way I was thinking to be more interactive one.

• When htop, launches, if we press "u" key, the list of users appear, a selection window which lets us choose a user to see processes of.
• How about in this window we use "space" key to tag(toggle/untag too) the user(similar to tag available for the processes), once tagged, their text color will become yellow(same behavior as tagging processes).
• After tagging if we press "enter" then the processes will be filtered by the users which we tagged and selected.
• We would have to handle some special cases too
  • If "All users" is tagged, then all the users available will be tagged as well.
  • If "All users" was selected, and some of the user was de-tagged, then "All users" will also be de-tagged.
  • If no user is tagged, but just "enter" key was pressed, then status-quo of what happens now, i.e. given entered user will be selected.
• Now selection state would be preserved, either user(s) were selected via cmdline or via interactive mode, if we press "u" then the previous selection/tagging(in case of multiple users) will be shown.
• Using "U" key, we will untag all the users, as similar to processes.

Lately I was also exploring the codebase of htop, I understand c/c++ well and am able to comprehend parts of code. If you want @BenBE , I can give a shot to implement this feature as well, as I have interest in getting involved in open source community of htop.
