Is there a plan to implement GDExtension build?

I see "scripts\gdextension\construct.py" in this project, and there have macro JSB_GDEXTENSION, but there have not gdextension build guide in document.

I tried to build the gdextension myself, but was unsuccessful due to some dependency issues.

I think it isn't possible right now, but it would be great if there is a way to achive this.

The Rust bindings are available as GDExtension as well, maybe it's a good starting point. Or some other language could be a good reference as well.

@Daylily-Zeleen, @ialex32x started to add a compat file for all core headers.
And in theory it would be no big deal to replace all current core/** headers with this compat header.

Sadly, the godot-cpp doesn't provide everything. Even something simple like String String::sprintf isn't provided. I'm not sure why some methods are included and some a excluded from godot-cpp. I tought about some security concerns, but it looks very random. E.g. we use OS::get_singleton()->get_ticks_usec(), and this is not exposed from godot-cpp. But Time::get_singleton()->get_ticks_usec(); is valid and using the same method:

If we want to build a GDExtension we would implement every missing method in the compat layer or do a lot of #if JSB_GDEXTENSION. This is a lot of work and even then it might not work porperly.

Even the mono/C# implementation isn't provided by the Godot Team...

P.S.: I tried to solve the conversion with A.I. and even Claude said there are so many things to change, I should keep with the current implementation 🙈

@nmerget Apis of GDExtension is base of ClassDB, in other words, any binding of GDExtension are like GDScript.
Godot-cpp have some specially treatments, such as "callable_mp", let it can be used like godot source code. However, again, its apis are similar to GDScript.
