Regarding thread safety

Can someone clarify whether the thread safety corresponds to reading the same file in parallel or multiple reads from different files? Also can the read me please be updated? I did not know how to contact the organisation so I made an issue instead. I apologize if this was wrong.

Thread safety is taken care of when using the netcdf crate. You only have to worry about this when using netcdf-sys

Note that libnetcdf's approach to threading seems to be "everything takes a global lock" (and I've seen it crash when opening unrelated files on different threads, probably someone forgot to take that lock).

You can use threads with this crate, but don't expect an increase in throughput.

Hello. I'm not using netcdf-sys, only (trying to use) netcdf but it seems netcdf v0.11.0 requires netcdf-sys which requires hdf5-metno-sys which is causing me an issue that says:
error: failed to run custom build command for hdf5-metno-sys v0.10.1

And the stdout says:
Searching for installed HDF5 (any version)...
Found no HDF5 installations.
Attempting to find HDF5 via pkg-config..
And then it shows a list of a bunch of "cargo: rerun-if-env-changed=......"

I can see that only hdf-metno-sys is on the list of dependencies

I might be misunderstanding. I think it's regarding this HDF5 stuff from this issue: #95.
If so, what do you think about adding information about that to the front page of the docs?
