About the Role
We’re looking for a full-time Senior Backend & Data Engineer to join us in scaling and strengthening our data and infrastructure stack. You’ll work closely with our dev and AI/data teams to design APIs, pipelines, and backend systems that support deep tech applications.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role. You’ll be trusted to contribute actively to architectural decisions, improve system robustness, and collaborate cross-functionally to ship production-ready features. Your Responsibilities
- Collaborate with dev, AI and product teams to design and implement scalable backend services in Golang and Python
- Build and optimize ETL/data pipelines that support data exploration, enrichment, and delivery workflows
- Help maintain and improve our PostgreSQL, Elastic Stack, and vector database infrastructure
- Support DevOps efforts including CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and cloud infrastructure (GCP or equivalent)
- Improve system performance and reliability through thoughtful observability, alerting, and load testing
- Contribute to internal best practices and co-shape engineering standards as the team grows
- If interested, optionally support other areas such as web scraping, NLP, or Agentic AI integration
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in product development, with solid backend and infrastructure skills
- Proficient in Golang (Gin, GORM) and Python (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy)
- Experienced in designing robust APIs with a product-minded perspective and focus on practical trade-offs
- Skilled in working with relational, search, and vector databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, pgvector)
- Proficient with Docker and containerized development workflows
- Capable of building ETL/data pipelines, and familiar with concepts of data lakes and data warehouses
- Experienced in setting up CI/CD pipelines and managing cloud infrastructure (GCP or others)
- Comfortable with Git version control and collaborative workflows
- Fluent in Mandarin
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written, able to communicate effectively in global teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with performance optimization on large-scale datasets and distributed systems
- Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (React.js, Vue.js) and frontend-backend integration
- Experience working with vector databases (pgvector, Qdrant), NLP pipelines, and Agentic AI systems
- Comfortable with Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and large-scale web crawling infrastructure
Compensation
Total compensation—including base salary and equity—is typically in the range of 2M–2.5M TWD annually.
