Replace depends on python3-pyinotify which seems dead upstream

be unmaintained upstream (#1004387) and depends on modules that have been
removed from the Python standard library (#1040102, #1075939, etc.).

Please consider either migrating to a maintained API for inotify
(such as python3-inotify), or helping with continued maintenance of
python3-pyinotify (possibly by switching its upstream to a maintained

Unfortunately python3-inotify is not available in Fedora and OpenSuse.

The GUI can work without python3-pyinotify, the only functionality we'd lose is the ability to load new .desktop files while the GUI is running. But we'd still load them on start up.

Would it help moving the dependencies from Depends: to Recommends:?

If pyinotify is unmaintained upstream, it is a security risk. I doubt it will be affected by changing Depends to Recommends. :) For now it is still in Debian, so there is some time, but it is defintely best to use maintained libraries.
