Integration test ideas

Let's try to collect some ideas for integration tests.

These are don't necessarily need to be ideas for entire test cases, but can also includes for individual things to check.

I myself use CPM.cmake in a pretty straight-forward manner, so it would be great if the community wants to join with ideas and use-cases.

Eventually I hope this discussion will lead to a list of test cases and modifications of the existing ones, which can then be made into issues.

Some ideas from me:

• Check logs. Check that CPM.cmake has logged things we expect it to
• Test CPMFindPackage. This will help with Single-argument and infer name support for CPMFindPackage #219. It is however somewhat difficult to manage as it depends on a lot of external stuff, which is difficult to isolate. For example how do we test that it can't find a package which exists on the host's system?
• Check package version warnings
• Check that packages in source cache are shallow
• A wild idea: benchmarks. The integration test library can be used to test times for configuring projects. Checking that configuring a project with multiple packages is an order of magnitude faster with source cache is possible
