Make your Uno Kit USB serial firmware missing ?

I am looking for the Make Your Uno Kit USB to Serial firmware for the Atmega16u2. After flashing it with the Uno hex file cannot upload the sketch to the device.
I have tried replacing the Microcontroller with a microcontroller from a working Arduino Uno (ATmega328P) hoping it will fix the problem.
I believe the Arduino Uno hex file is not suitable for the Make your Uno kit (USB c). Therefore, can I please get the correct hex file for the make-your-own kit? The kit was released (11/03/22) and the repo is not updated to hold the USB to Serial firmware.
