Global peer-to-peer connections

From the anysync documentation:

Global peer-to-peer (p2p) communication: any-sync will be enhanced to enable direct communication and connection between devices without the need for a remote infrastructure. This advancement will empower users with the ability to establish direct p2p connections, fostering faster and more efficient data synchronization.

I'd love to know if there any specific plans around this at the moment. I may be able to contribute.

Edit: Also, I'm wondering if it would eventually be possible to make ACL changes without going through some central server.
