What happened?

Actual No Longer Working With Mac Intel x64 10.15.8

I was trying to install Actual Mac Intel when it no longer install on macOS Catalina
10.15.8.

I was hoping it was only one release back then, but it is not the case. Many new releases have already passed and seemly that we were left behind.

After download, and opening the installer, Actual shows with a wrong way sign meaning, it will not install!

I did even try for obvious reasons. For the record, macOS Catalina still working very well. Is there any reason for living us behind?

As we speak, Firefox just updated to 148.0.2 (64-bit).
By the way, my Actual Desktop App: v25.8.0 still working fine.

I wish I had better news for you, but Electron (the tool we use to build the macos app) dropped Macos Catalina support back in v33. https://www.electronjs.org/docs/latest/breaking-changes#removed-macos-1015-support

We currently use Electron v39.

I'll keep the ticket open bc I want to look into another different tool for bundling the app. Maybe that would help bring back Catalina support, but.. I wouldn't recomment putting much hope on that.

Using an old version of AB might be the only solution for you currently. And likely also going forward unfortunately.

Cc @MikesGlitch in case you have any opinion about this. Allegedly it creates smaller app sizes and is more performant as it does not bundle chromium, but instead uses the OS default browser. I've never used it though.

I have my Actual Desktop App: v25.8.0 working fine. It is very handy and allow me to monitor different reports. I will work with it until it dies. Thank you so much for your work!
