Repo with improved instructions

Made this repo with step by step instructions in bash on how to install everything and validate its execution. Its a little more cohesive than the current state of the read me so I'm putting this here in case anyone finds it useful.

It runs in a cuda 12.8 and ubuntu 24.04 docker.

Thanks for putting this together. Different users have different levels of familiarity, so if there’s a place in the README that was confusing for you, please let us know which section that was. That will help us see whether it’s a documentation gap or just a setup misunderstanding.

Definitely, glad I could be of some use (though I have a better version of this repo now, this one is a bit stale). I think the main problem(s) I had with the readme were that, when using the docker, I wasn't entirely sure why there was/is is directory called accel-sim but to my understanding no actual build of accel-sim in it. I also found that some of the instructions were a little bit out of order, as I would personally find it a little more intuitive to start with building accel-sim, then generating a trace and finally running it on the simulator.

Also, I dont think it was mentioned anywhere that the standard way of doing things is to clone gpgpu-sim within accelsim, I had to gather that from context (I was also pulling in the version of gpgpu-sim from the gpgpu-sim GitHub, which was really hard to debug because I didn't even realize there were two separate forks till it was pointed out to me).

In any case, I would be happy to draft up an updated version of the README this weekend. It shouldn't take too long and could go a long way for future users. Let me know if this sounds good to you. Cheers
