Take Over for Disconnected Display

I was wondering if it was possible that when the main display is disconnected if this could take over as the main display. Then hand back over the main and disable when the display in connected.

My monitors turn off at night due to the amount of light even set dim/dark. So if there is a game running or anything open it gets messed up when the monitor is turned back on again.

Are you turning off your monitors? Or are they going to sleep?
There may be a way to do it with some advanced scripting and scheduled tasks if you're on windows pro

I have 2 tv's as monitors and they get turned off using a smart outlet when I am going to bed or not at the computer.

Have you tried duplicating the main display to a virtual monitor?

Yes and it still allows the mouse to travel off into empty space as the virtual monitor exists as a separate desktop
