Tauon portable version for Linux?

There are Tauon portable versions for Linux in Pre-releases.
I assume it's there to easy test it.

I wonder what about to include portable versions to releases too?

Pros:

• no flatpak permissions problems, it should feel like a native app.
• potentially less crashes,
• more stable and responsive?
• no problem when updating kernel and NVIDIA flatpak driver

What do you think?

The biggest issue is updates. Well tauon can update itself like uosc (popular mpv UI) does.

You can still grab the CI build from the associated commit if you can navigate the maze that is GitHub actions.

Generally though I’d rather promote Flatpak as I feel the added security outweighs its negatives.

Crashes are often when listening radios. I am on X11, maybe on wayland Tauon much more stable.

Post the crash log from the user data directory, am aware that radio has issues but not that it can outright crash the app.

X11/Wayland shouldn't matter whatsoever here.

Recent Tauon versions save a crash log to user data dir / tauon-crash.log

Oh please let there be a portable version!
I've been wishing there was since I found Tauon. Portable, appimage, whatever.
I freaking hate messing with flatpak!

I think it's just wget or curl script that downloads zip file from github and extracts it to the destination folder, replacing the old content
