Quality Guidelines

This document outlines the quality standards and requirements for the Simple Device Creator integration.

Testing Requirements

Code Coverage

  • Maintain >95% code coverage across all tests
  • Unit tests must cover all functions and classes
  • Component tests must verify Home Assistant integration

Test Types

  • Unit Tests: Test individual components in isolation
  • Component Tests: Test the integration within Home Assistant
  • Integration Tests: Verify end-to-end functionality

Code Review Checklist

  • Code follows PEP 8 standards
  • Type hints are used appropriately

  • Tests are included and passing
  • Documentation is updated

Performance Guidelines

  • Minimize API calls and network requests
  • Use efficient data structures
  • Avoid memory leaks
  • Optimize for Home Assistant's async architecture

Security Requirements

  • Never log sensitive information (API keys, passwords)
  • Use secure storage for credentials
  • Validate all user inputs
  • Follow Home Assistant security guidelines

Compatibility

  • Support Python 3.11 and 3.12
  • Compatible with Home Assistant 2024.1.0+
  • Test against latest stable and beta releases

Release Process

  • Update version in manifest.json
  • Update CHANGELOG.md
  • Create Git tag
  • Run full test suite
  • Validate with HACS and Hassfest
