Reddit changelog (https://old.reddit.com/r/reddit/comments/xvjf3j/changelog_live_chat_update_intuitive_post_type/)
Many Android users are currently experiencing an error when they try to open links within their Reddit app. In order to fix this error, we will be removing the “Open web links in-app” option from Settings. Links will then default to opening in Chrome custom tabs—if Chrome isn’t available, they'll default to opening in a browser window within the app.

They won't return it (Reddit admin)
This app setting was removed along with the recent rollout of version 2022.38.0 of our Android app and will not be available in future versions of the official Reddit app for Android.

Most likely the real reason
https://www.reddit.com/r/redditmobile/comments/y6etld/android2022380607460_suddenly_cant_open_links/itahe1n/
They fixed the bug. The bug was their marketing people were missing a bunch of data from people that opened links outside the app. They fixed that by redirecting links through a tracking proxy. That was a problem though because the compute power to manage tracking every link that way is almost as expensive (or maybe more expensive) than the price they can sell the data for. So they removed it.

My request is this

  1. Please add 2022.37.0 patched base.
  2. Let's figure out if it's possible to add the feature back. Maybe @nightznero can help as i've been using his out.reddit.com removed patched APK for while. That's why i am 2 month late on this lame Reddit update.
